Detroit Stereographic Society Digital Competition Recommendations

Image Capture:

For easiest image capture use the Fuji W1 or W3 digital stereo camera (loaner cameras available to club members).
For easiest custom implementations use SDM (http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/sdm/index.htm) and Canon cameras listed on that page.
Any of the many other alternatives are fine as long as the Display Format is generated prior to entering the image.

Display Format:

Use SPM (http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/) or other products to generate the following format

Side-by-Side .jpg image (not separate Left and Right images or Anaglyph).
You can submit any resolution image. We will be displaying so that 16:9 images will fit on the screen.

Name file as yyyymmdd-entry number-last name-first name-title. The date should be the date of the meeting - the entry number should be the order in which you would like the images presented, e.g.:
20240911-1-Huberty-Al-Nova Scotia Coastline
20240911-2-Huberty-Al-Riding the Waves
20240911-3-Huberty-Al-Seagulls on the Shore

Submit entries via email to the Awards Chair by the Sunday before the meeting. Details will be in the monthly newsletter email.
PLEASE - DOUBLE CHECK your file names before submitting. This will help make the process run smoothly!

Entering/Scoring Team

A group of four judges will score the images offline prior to the meeting. Judges may also enter images, but will not score their own.

Projection

Projection will be on the club's single stereo projector with a polarizer unit that allows the use of passive glasses.
StereoPhoto Maker is the software we are using for the display.
There will be two image groups projected at both the live and online meetings.

“Randomized” list that contains the randomly sequenced entries for the contest.
“Winners” list will contain the winning entries sequenced by their placement starting with HM moving towards 1^st place.

We are now using this system for our competitions - changes and updates will be posted as needed. Please use this as a guide to making the job of putting on the competitions manageable for the people doing it. And please support the competitions by sending in your images. We want to have LOTS of images shown at each meeting - that's what the club is all about!
